The phrase ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) has become a common term in the modern society in the examination of children whose behavior can be challenging to manage. In the United Kingdom, according to the online National Statistics (ONS, 2004) 1.5% of children 5-16 years, hyperkinetic Disorders, this statistic is more common in boys.
Children as soon as they are mobile and independent thought, than the Can around them, are struggling with their difficult and challenging behavior than ever in the realms of ADHD.

Step 1:

Step 2:

The staff at your child's school should have basic management approaches that they do to try and help the situation and to speak for you and your child to see whether the problem can be resolved. Step 3:
If the problem persists in school?
If this is the case, then you have to ask school to refer your child for an assessment of behaviour Support Services (BSS). The school must rise to this recommendation, and it may take a while, so do not leave until you are desperate. BSS are there to help, they can not perform miracles, but they are there to very specific plans for the conduct of the administration can be used to manage your child in school and allow them access to their education, despite the Difficulties they are in learning through their current environment.
The other BSS benefit from it will see if there is more cause for concern and may indicate that further assessments are done, how the problem may be an underlying cause . They will not mention names such as ADHD, since they are not in a position to diagnose and it would be wrong if they pointed out, a condition, but they suggest possible judgement underlying causes, and that is what you want.
Step 4:
If the problem persists at home and in school?
If you had a persistent problem at home and at school in managing your child's behavior, attention, ability to cope with life in a productive manner due to a lack of attention and /or hyperactivity you really need to ask some sort of assessment.
In the United Kingdom at the moment is the most likely outcome is that if the problem is pursued by the school, your child is under the Department of Educational Psychology (EP). This is a professional association, will examine your child using standardized medical and mental health and psychological evaluations reviews to see if they indicated that they reasonably symptoms of ADHD.
If the answer is "yes" then the child should be a tier-3 Children's Mental Health Service for assessment.
If not they should continue within the school system, than for an individual education plan (IEP) and possibly thinking about other forms of support for the family to manage the child at home, such as parenting groups, networks, Level 2 services of Children's Mental Health, visitors or health and school Nurses Health (if they are available and know The child). If concerns about the need for a reference to be excluded, do not believe that the problem no longer exists, it is only that the solution is something else. Just so you know BSS services do not go all the way to 16yrs, stop them in about 12 years and most places have links workers, can also help.
Step 5:
Has your child needs an evaluation? If you have
by the EP service and they have recommended, or if you have been aware a long-term problems in school and you have sought assistance from the GP or health visitor, school or health Nurse (Tier 1) At this point, they may believe that a referral to the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) for an evaluation. This is where you begin, according to a variation of where you live, but hopefully this variant is only to do with the nature of the access.
In some places, there are single points of consultation on animal-2 services for the evaluation in Stage 3 of mental health services (CAMHS). This means you can go to any professional (GP, HV, SHN, teacher) and ask them to refer your child for an evaluation. If your child meets the criteria they do so, if they do not explain why.
In some places there is no single point of submission, and you may need to go to your GP will refer you to CAMHS. The professionals you encounter in your area know what to do like every area has an ADHD Protocol, which the local implementation of the Nice guidelines for the treatment of ADHD (draft 2008, to be published Sept 2008) .
Step 6:

This may take some time, but you should now well o the way to find whether ADHD is the cause of your child's problems. Of course, this is the beginning of the solution to the problems that you were, but at least you know you are on the right track, you know why your child is the person who they are, and you have options as to the best way for you, your family and your school in dealing with the problem.
ADHD is usually a lifelong problem, but one that can be managed through a variety of approaches. Behavioural management is the heart of the solution, so if you are on a step, step or two and you have a teacher, health visitor, school health nurse or GP tell you that you should consider parental approaches, please do not be offended. You do not mean that you are not a good parent, but how good a parent you are, there are some things that groups of experts can tell you about dealing with children and to manage, are challenging to maintain and have early signs of ADHD, is not a fob off, it is the best advice you could embrace it, try it, and if it does not solve the problem you need to use it, but now to further steps.
